Moms-to-Be
You only have nine months to prepare to become the perfect mother, and all the time in the world once your baby arrives to test out your notions. So what do you have to worry about? A lot. The stories in this book will be about that preparation, angst, joy, morning sickness and antsy husbands and partners, everything important leading up to that special day. We would love to get stories from the non-pregnant parent, and we will probably use eight or so adoption stories in the book.
Tentative Chapter Titles:
- Breaking News (pregnancy test fiascos, breaking the news to friends, family, or partner/spouse)
- Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News (prenatal visits with doctor or midwife, ultrasounds,
evaluations, weigh-ins) - Baby Bump Breakdown (morning sickness, exhaustion, stretch marks, and more)
- Crazy Cravings
- What’s in a Name?
- Encounters of the Other Kind (encounters with complete strangers, crabby medical personnel,
birthing class instructors and participants, and the funny and not-so-funny things complete
strangers say to pregnant women) - Show of Support (mom-to-be support groups and friends’ advice, including the not-so-welcome
labor horror stories) - Family Matters (dealing with in-laws, your baby’s siblings, your own siblings, and more)
- Expecting the Unexpected (making a birth plan, when plans go awry, etc.)
- This is all going to be worth it, right? (Tales from The Big Day)
