New Extensive Travel Website

PlacesToDiscover.comOur new travel site Places to Discover.com has been posted. We have hundreds of travel stories and even more photos, so the site will evolve as we continue adding destinations and stories!

For travelers, you can discover the inside stories about the fascinating histories and cultures of domestic and international travel destinations before you visit. For publishers and editors of magazines, newspapers and other media, this site will serve as a resource to purchase travel stories and high-resolution photographs. And for travel and real estate/relocation agents, the material is available for purchase and/or advertising opportunities.

Initially, we will be adding our own updated travel stories and photos and in late 2008 we will begin accepting travel stories from freelance writers. If you are on our e-mail list for our free Wow Principles e-newsletter, we'll notify you as soon as we begin accepting those freelance stories.

What's Happening at Publishing Syndicate
With the recent transition of Chicken Soup for the Soul Enterprises to new East Coast owners, we have decided to focus our energies on other books and move away from writing and editing for Chicken Soup for now. Of course we will continue to post Chicken Soup for the Soul and  A Cup of Comfort story callouts and updates in our popular and free monthly Wow Principles e-newsletter. We'll also include other anthology series call-outs, space permitting.

Regarding the refocusing of our creative energies on other projects, we have four new book series in the works, some of which will require stories from you:

Best of California's Missions Mansions and Museums1) On the heels of our 2007 national award-winning Best of California's Missions, Mansions and Museums guide (pictured to the left), our publisher (Wilderness Press) has once again contracted with us to create a second book entitled Best of the Pacific Northwest's Mansions, Museums and More. This title is slated for release in Fall 2009. If you have a favorite Oregon or Washington mansion, museum or “more,” please zip us an e-mail and share your news!

2) For wine lovers, we are working on a fun and light-hearted wineries travel guide series. Each book in the series will focus on the popular wine regions of California, Oregon and Washington. Scheduled to debut in 2009 through publisher Wilderness Press, we have a great title for this series, but since we can't copyright a title, we have to keep it secret until the sales catalog is released by the publisher. More on this later, and we might even need your help!

3) For our Chicken Soup and Cup of Comfort writers whom we have worked with over the years, we are also beginning an exciting new book series. Even though we can't share the name of the series with you at this time, we can give you a sneak peek at the structure: It will be an anthology series (with stories from you!) combined with interviews from experts, inspiration on par with that found in books such as The Secret, and how-to tips and advice, similar to the Dummies series. These books will allow our readers to "see, identify, and do" and become an active participant. Once we have the publishing contract in place, we can release the title of this series. But in the meantime, we now are accepting great stories from people like you! SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

4) Last, we are developing a business book series. The first title will feature leading women entrepreneurs from around the world. Just as above, we are holding off announcing the name of the series until the publishing contract is in place.
